This piece is 5.25"wide x 4"high. An elegant small bowl with a luscious burnt caramel colored glaze inside and out. The piece was thrown round and altered when I trimmed the bottom. I have begun experimenting with gold-leaf and gold paint and now whenever a piece develops a crack (that I usually never see until the final firing) I 'gild' it. The traditional art of Japanese 'Kintsugi' is about repair and making flaws beautiful, though this is a very pared down version on true 'Kintsugi' I like the results. It gives a second life to the piece.
Like all my work it is porcelain, thrown on the pottery wheel and fired to 2267 degrees. Each piece is one of a kind and every glaze is made from dry materials in my studio.
My work is primarily decorative, meant to be enjoyed by the eye and the heart.
